About the event
Join us for "Art & Resistance: The Power of Creative Protest", an online workshop led by Ren Allathkani & Artists For Justice on Wednesday, April 10th, 2024.
This teach-in & creative workshop will dive into the importance of Palestinian art & culture as it relates to resistance movements. We'll learn about the history, symbolism, and traditional art forms that have been used across generations to resist the cultural erasure and ethnic cleansing of Palestinian people, while learning from Ren about the practice of tatreez, a traditional form of embroidery. There will be an open Q/A for participants to talk candidly with the artist about anything related to the process behind her art and how it relates to her cultural roots. We'll then dive into a creative session on counter-propaganda, making zines, posters, and sharing resources in support of Palestinian freedom across the world.ย
This workshop is FREE and open to all. Donations will be accepted (but are not required) to support Anera, an international organization currently providing direct humanitarian relief to refugees in the West Bank and Gaza.ย
